A fantastic day out for all the family, the Chaguaramas Military History and Aviation Museum is a must-see in Trinidad and Tobago. The museum was founded by Gaylord Kelshall, a former officer in the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, and contains a very well organised collection of military equipment.
The theme 'Five Hundred Years of Military History' means that here you can learn about the history of the country in the Amerindian time before Christopher Columbus had ever arrived all the way through to recent world wars and Trinidad and Tobago's involvement with them.
There is a whole host of recovered wartime vehicles to see, like fighter jets that are great fun for kids, and big kids alike. For the history enthusiast there are plenty of photographs, documents and uniforms to peruse along with some fascinating stories.
This is a great place to spend a few hours wandering around with the family, or even spend an entire day absorbing the diverse history of this wonderful country.
